2D Artworks: Digital Drawing

In this technology-driven world that we live in today, almost everything is digitalized.

Digital drawing is when a drawing is created using graphics software. Instead of using a pencil, paper or paint on canvas, digital artists draw with a tablet or a computer, along with a device such as a mouse or a stylus.

Digital art has countless applications and uses but is most commonly used in commercial settings. Crypto art has allowed many digital artists to sell their works for prices that were previously exclusive to traditional artworks.

Pros, Cons & Debates

There has been much debate and varying opinions on whether or not digital art counts as real art. If by “real,” you mean is the end product actual physical items made using physical tools? Then no. Meanwhile, the cost and skills of making digital art is less than traditional art, so someone believe digital art cannot be considered as "real art".

However, some people think digital art (in this case, digital drawing specifically, is real art) because it requires more or less the same creative techniques and skills that traditional art needs. Art is art, and the primary purpose of art is to express the artist’s emotions regardless of the medium used. Making good quality digital art requires the same amount of skill, talent, originality, knowledge, and effort as any other traditional art piece. Every artist must learn to master his tools regardless of the medium.

In this page, we will display selected digital drawing artworks created by various tools. We encourage the viwers not only enjoy the fabulous digital arts but also be critical about all these works. If you have thoughts or feedback, feel free to leave your message on the "Forum" Page!

The illustration created as a hero image for the landing page of the environment protection community. In web design, “hero image” is a term that is applied to a big eye-catching image that is usually seen in the above-the-fold zone of the webpage right below the website header. This simple scheme from Balsamiq covers the basic idea.
